Frequently Asked Questions

ACCESSIBILITY

Music is for everyone, and everyone is welcome at The Tivoli. We’ll always try our absolute best to support each and every one of you.

ACCESSIBLE BOOKINGS

To book wheelchair/carer tickets for any Ticketmaster ticketed events please call Ticketmaster's Accessible Bookings line Mon - Fri 9 am - 5pm on 1300 446 925 to talk to a Customer Service Representative about your Accessible Booking/Tickets. This phone number is reserved for patrons with accessibility requirements and companion cardholders. Alternatively, you can fill out a Ticketmaster request form here. Please make sure you select Accessible bookings from the 'Select a topic' drop-down menu and fill in all the fields.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS

There is wheelchair access via ramps at the front door and our main toilets and bar are wheelchair accessible. The closest disabled parking is on King Street but you're welcome to unload out the front of the venue.

BATHROOM ACCESS

The Tivoli has four bathrooms. The two in the main foyer area marked ‘Gents’ and ‘Ladies’ and two in the lower bar area marked ‘Gents’ and ‘Everybody’ - the 'Everybody' toilets contain eight cubicles that are able to be utilised by all.

The ‘Gents’ bathrooms are signed as such, because they include public (not enclosed) urinals and enclosed cubicles.

GIG ETIQUETTE

PLAYING IT COOL

We all know when someone is not being cool. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, pushing people around, invading other people’s personal space, speaking super loudly at inappropriate times, drinking too much – this type of activity is not welcome. The Tiv is all about the love. Love thy neighbour, love thy bartender, love thy music Gods. We’re all here to have a great time - together.

PHONES

We’d like to raise a lighter to those who choose to lower their phones. Nobody enjoys being stuck behind someone who is filming the gig.

SMOKING & VAPING

You know the drill (and the law) – no smoking or vaping inside the venue. We have an outside smoking deck that you are welcome to use but no drinks permitted out there. Put ya butt (not ya booty) in the bin.

VANTAGE POINTS

The Tivoli has a flat, un-raked floor. This means everyone needs to work together to get the best possible view of the state. If you want to be up the front, we recommend getting to the venue early to find a good spot.

ALL ABOUT TICKETS

Ticketmaster takes care of all our ticket sales for events in the main auditorium. We are licensed exclusively to them. Tickets to all What's Golden shows are sold through Moshtix.

DOOR SALES

Gigs that aren’t sold out usually have a small ticket allocation available from the Box Office on the night. Sorry, we cannot hold tickets for you if you call us. First in, best dressed.

REFUNDS & RESELLING TICKETS

We don't issue refunds or exchanges if you change your mind or get Covid, however, you can list your ticket for sale on Tixel, which is a completely safe and legitimate ticket reselling website. You will never buy or sell a ticket for more than 10% of the original purchase price with Tixel.

SOLD OUT EVENTS

If an event is listed as ‘sold out’ on our site, then it generally means no tickets will be available from the door. On very rare occasions additional tickets (such as promoter and media holds) will become available, but we have no way of predicting this. If a show is sold out you'll be able to join the waitlist via the event page, then you'll be the first to know if we release tickets. Alternatively, you can try to find a ticket on our ticket reselling partner Tixel

DIGITAL TICKETS

If you are unable to download your ticket before the show, go see the Box Office when you arrive and they'll print you a new one. You'll need to show some form of photo ID.

AFTERPAY

Want to come to a gig but you don't get paid 'till next week? No sweat! Ticketmaster now accepts Afterpay, which allows you to pay for your tickets in four instalments every two weeks, interest free.

SCALPING & TICKET SCAMS

Ok listen up folks! Really important information here… we've had some really sad people get scammed on their tickets and we really don’t want that to happen to you.

Please make sure you aware fully aware of all of the information regarding reselling tickets.

Resale sites such as Viagogo and Stubhub are not official resellers and are NOT endorsed by our venue or Ticketmaster.

It is very possible that you will be substantially overcharged and that the tickets may not even be valid tickets. If you purchase tickets through this avenue, you do so entirely at your own risk and there is nothing we can do to help you if your ticket doesn't scan.... Trust us - it happens at every show and it sucks. If it doesn’t scan, then you’ve been scammed.

Do NOT buy tickets from someone in the comments on Facebook. You will be scammed. The only legitimate place to buy resale tickets, or sell your tickets if you can't make the show, other than Ticketmaster, is Tixel.

GIG TYPES

We host a range of events here at The Tiv. Age restrictions are determined by the promoter/band who has hired The Tivoli for the event. Note: we don’t check ID when you buy a ticket, but we do check it on the door.

GENERAL ADMISSION STANDING - OVER 18S ONLY

There is no allocated seating at this type of gig. Get to the venue early so you can find a great location for you and your buddies. Sorry kids, ‘Over 18s Only’ means minors aren’t allowed full stop, not even with a guardian, and this includes babies. The age listed on the website is bible, you don't need to call us to double check.

If you're worried about being on your feet for such a long period of time, don't be. We have couches and stools throughout the venue for your comfort.

GENERAL ADMISSION STANDING - LICENSED ALL AGES (6+ Only)

These gigs are similar to the above, but young folk under 18 are allowed. For these events we'll either have an area that's unlicensed upstairs, and 18+ downstairs, or if the event is deemed low risk we'll mix everyone in together. For these events we'll always have more security on to ensure everyone has a safe and fun time. It is recommended those aged 6-13 attend with a parent or guardian.

We have a no babes in arms policy. Children under the age of 6 are not permitted in the venue. Each human over the age of 6 attending a seated gig needs a ticket.

RESERVED SEATING - LICENSED ALL AGES (6+ Only)

You will be allocated a seat at the point of sale. If you’re coming with friends, best buy your tickets together. Seating plans change for every event, so check it at the point of sale on the Ticketmaster website. Alcohol will be served at the event but our staff reserve the right to check your ID at the time of purchase. Even though your teenager may be a well adjusted young human, the law is the law and no alcohol may be bought for them whatsoever.

GENERAL ADMISSION SEATING

These events have un-allocated seating meaning first in, best dressed. We recommend getting here a little early if you want to sit close to the front.

ALL AGES ALCOHOL FREE EVENT

Everyone is welcome here, but there’s no grog and no ciggies or vapes.

You won’t be asked for proof of age at the door, but if you’re found consuming alcohol, cigarettes or vapes then you’ll be asked to leave. Also, if you are seen to be drinking alcohol directly outside the venue, you will not be permitted in to the venue. If you’re thirsty we provide a range of non-alcoholic beverages, tea and coffee for sale. Water is free and recommended by doctors the world over. Most all ages gigs wrap by 10pm.

WHAT TO BRING

YOUR TICKET

Yeah, don’t forget your ticket. Pretty crucial element. We can’t let you in without your ticket, but if you have forgotten it or you're unable to show it on your phone, you can cask the Box Office to print you a new one.

DRESS CODE

No steel caps or thongs (flip flops) permitted for your safety. Other than that, just be comfortable and happy. Shorts, hats, skirts, heels, sneakers, crocks, birks, etc. are all fine.

PHOTO ID

All patrons in possession of an 18+ ticket will need to show some form of photo ID to gain entry to the venue. A physical drivers licence, 18+ card and passport are all acceptable forms of physical photo ID, as is a digital licence through the QLD Governments app. You can read more info about digital licences here.

MERCH

Some bands love to sell merchandise. Most accept cash and card.

NO CLOAK ROOM

Since nobody wears cloaks anymore (and it's Brisbane) we don’t have a cloak room. What you bring with you must stay with you during the event and you’re responsible for the care of your own stuff. Big bags are fine, but you'll have to carry it around all night. Try not to lose your things while having all the fun!

NO CAMERAS

Everyone has a smartphone, right? Please leave your DSLRs at home as they will not be accepted into the event unless you have an official photographer’s pass. We recommend using your eyes to view the gig as opposed to your phone. It’s soooo much better - we promise.

LOST & FOUND

Every year our staff have a party where we get dressed up in other people’s lost gear. If you’ve lost your stuff, and it’s been handed in, we’ll happily hand it back. Call us Mon to Fri, 9am to 4pm on 3852 1711 or message us on Facebook to see if we have your goods.

VENUE INFO

YOUR SAFETY

The Tivoli puts the safety and well-being of our patrons as a number one priority. However from time to time incidents occur in the venue that are out of our control. Guests who attend events at The Tivoli do so at their own risk and The Tivoli will not held liable for such incidents. We encourage guests to be highly communicative with our staff in any instance where a someone's safety is put in jeopardy.

DOORS OPEN

Doors open at the time printed on your ticket. Come and enjoy a bev or two with us before the gig. If you can’t wait, then we can recommend King Street as the closest place to kick-start your night. More information about what you can do before and after the show can be found on our What's Around page.

QUEUES

Sometimes there are queues down the street. The early bird gets the worm.

FOOD

The Tiv does not currently have food available for purchase, so we encourage you to eat beforehand, or check out what's around the venue here

PARKING

There is no on-site parking at The Tivoli. You can find some on-street parking in the surrounding areas but it’s pretty limited. There is a undercover car park off King Street and a Secure Car Park close by on Alfred Street.

Public transport is generally an excellent option too.

SET TIMES

Please make sure to check the door and start time of your show to ensure you don't miss a thing. We advise you to arrive close to the door time to grab the best spot in the house.

END TIME

Mum’s picking me up, what time should I tell her? We can only estimate the finish time of an event because sometime artists just love to keep blowing our minds for hours. Bedtime for all ages gigs is usually 10pm. 18+ events wrap anytime between 11pm and 2am.

THE AFTER PARTY

The ugly lights may go on but don’t feel you need to leave straight away. Our bars will remain open for a little bit after the gig. The Tivoli is also in the middle of The Valley’s entertainment hub so there are plenty of places to keep the party going. See here for some suggestions.

WATER

We have free water. Stay hydrated folks!
